Keying lights (probably a newbie question)

#1

Hi,

I’m relatively new to Maya (I’m using 2014). I’ve got an ambient light parented to a camera, and would like its intensity to change, but whenever I try and key it I get the message:

“Warning line 641: Current manipulator and active objects have no keyable attributes, , or animation layers are present and the BaseAnimation bar is not selected or locked.”

From what I’ve read elsewhere, it seems you can key lights, so I guess it’s something to do with the BaseAnimation bar? I’ve read about it in Maya’s documentation, and tried locking and unlocking, but it doesn’t seem to help.

Help appreciated,

Joe

I did some quick testing and the only way I could get the error you described was by creating an animation layer and locking all of them. Beyond that I didn’t have any trouble keying anything.
