Keep Sink: An Animated short production blog

#1

Hey All!

I’ve started up a production blog for an upcoming animation. www.keepsink.com Come and check it out to see some concept work and timelapse Zbrush modelling. Here is our concept:

Keep Sink is a 5 minute animated short currently in production. It follows a young woman as she slowly sinks deep into the ocean through different ecosystems and ultimately into unexplored terrain. The ocean is a long gradient and while she sinks she seemlessly transitions between spaces. We want the animation to function as a serene meditative experience. We set out to make an aesthetic journey combining the beauty of the ocean and the beauty of deep space.

Thanks for the encouragement. We’ve been at it several months now in our free time after work so we are already pretty far into production. I’m going to be comping in a live action dancer to play the part of the sinking woman in the next few weeks. I’ll keep the blog posts coming.

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to post some new work we have done on this short http://www.keepsink.com. A few months ago I built and rigged a character and now we have decided to go with a live action dancer so all that work has been a waste of time.

Check out the model:

Watch a demo of the rig here, its pretty fun to play with: Rig Demo

Just a few production updates on the blog: keepsink.com

Here is a compositing test I finished this week. Just testing out some of the render layers.
Composting test click here!

We have a camera that is synced up between Maya and After Effects to do a lot of the post work.

Out of Maya we’re rendering a
Diffuse Pass
AO pass
Depth Pass

Check out more stuff on the blog: keepsink.com

Thanks!
