Just Started Getting into Mental Ray

#1

So I have just started getting into Mental, trying to learn as much as I can, about using a better lighting system. Well now I have come to a point I need some help. Simply put should I use the Metal Ray - Autodesk Generic Texture Matrial to create textures.
FYI:
I am rendering a room, with windows, currently no plans on interior lighting except the sun lighting coming in with the aid of mr sun and mr Sky portals.
I will also place a character into the scene, so if there are different Mental Ray Materials to use for different models, all advice is welcomed.
Also I went from the basic texture to Mental Ray because the lighting wasn’t changing color based on the colored glass it was shinning through.

Please anyone who has advice, I really need it, thanks.

By “generic texture” I think you mean the mia_material_x? In Max it’s called the “Arch/Design Material” or some nonsense, but it’s the same shader really.

So what’s your question?

I wish I had checked this a while ago, I found the answer the same day I posted or the day after regardless, the question was should I use the Mental ray texture with mental ray or should I use the basic texture maps, what better blah blah. I know, that is now a dumb question to me. thanks though for replying to me.
