Just got my Modo and...

Hello…
We’ve just bought two Modo seats for our company and after fooling around with it, i’ve two questions so far:

  1. While in Rotate mode i can’t see a numeric input panel. Is this normal? How can i numericaly enter specific values for rotation in a particular axis, like i can for all other tools?

  2. In the upcoming Lightwave 8.2 update, Newtek augmented Modeler and the lwo object format to support Sub-dis in UV space also. Will this new feature be recognize in Modo? Until Luxology comes up with the renderer, our main rendering engine is Lightwave and Messiah Studio sometimes. Are we still have to do all of our UV mapping in Modeler? The goal is to eventually move from Modeler to Modo, but if this feature is not supported then we have a broken link in the pipeline chain, at least for the UVs of organic objects, which is what our studio will do most in the upcoming year…

Thanks in advance,

You can enter numeric input in the “Tool Properties”

Hello Xacto.

These are the properties of the axis rotate tool.
Is there any difference between these tools, or the simple rotate tools is for fast situations?

Thanks in advance,

Tools Info form shows the exact rotational value for Rotate. I think it’s a bit misplaced place for that value, it should be in Tool Properties.

Uhm…
I was looking for a numeric input field, not a readout info…
Thanks anyway,

The gimbal rotate you are wondering about is a matrix rotation using quaternions. Because of the way the rotational value is calculated there are no numeric values to set as such. If you want to enter rotation values directly you should use the Axis Rotate tool.

Hey, Brad…
No big deal!
I’m trying to mimic LW in Modo as much as possible, to make easier the transition for me; that’s why i was looking for a numeric input field…
Thanks,
