Hello! I’m having the most frustrating problem. I’m new to Maya and I’ve created my character and am on to rigging. My problem is this: my joints and bones do not stay attached. I believe it is an orientation problem but I can not find the perfect settings. When I tried using the skeleton generator, the bones all pointed straight forward towards the Z and when I try to orient, it says I have negative orientations. I’ve tried all kinds of combinations of settings…even setting the whole program back to default and nothing works. It doesn’t matter what I try, my bones refuse to stay attached to the joints. They move as though they are connected but the bones break off when I bend the joints(for example using an IK) When I look on tutorials, I see rigs with bones that stay attached when the joints are moved or rotated and I can not get mine to do it!! Also, If I have more than one joint chain parented to a certain joint, say the arms to the clavical…I see three bones but they are all pointed up the spine and not to the arms…like they are stuck. I need help big time!
