Mack,

I am looking at line composition.

Thanks for saying so.

Took a look. Not bad stuff, if you don’t mind my saying.

I’ll catch up. I’m in super draw mode, because I’ve had limited time till now this week.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll carry on.

#22

Good practice lines with inks!

#23

Hi Hugo,

You know, dontcha know? Giving feet and hands a go.

You know also? Napkins are kind of discreet. You could be writing up a whole atomic bomb schematic and people just think you’re scribbling your next classic noir novel.

Maybe I’ll just keep with those.

How are you? I haven’t seen what you’re up to lately. See you in a minute.

Thanks.

Hey,

Working on a Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema study.

Now, it’s freehand this time. No tracing or color picking.

The girl in the front is pretty out of scale.

I’m still not sure if the list is required. I’ll change course for now, though.

This study is ArtRage 5.0 with a Wacom Bamboo tablet.

#25

Really complex painting! You’re doing great i believe with some changes here and there in the front girl, like you said.
(no need to follow the list :), we have a green light)

#26

I’ve been wanting to do an Alma-Tadema style for a long time.

List not necessary is ok with me. I had plans today for doing drapery. If which, in terms of complexity, this one right now kind of turned into a wind storm.

I’ll post it.

Talk to you later.

#27

Well.

Why I’m studying drapery, I suppose.

Pretty much came apart.

Study is the idea on this one.

Onward.

#28

Nice sketches u have there!

#29

Hi Kaitlin.

Thanks.

I’m working at it.

The textured brush thing you’re doing works. Graphic drawings. Reduced forms, but cool.

I’ve done some of that in Photoshop, but I seem to come to grips with ArtRage a little quicker.

Blur effect on the cookies had me fooled. I’m also a fan of the Rudolf cat. A character. Like it.

Really loved this last sketch JoelHageman!
It made such beautifull shapes and lines. Worked really well

#31

Very artistic pictures!

#32

Working on it.

Ballpoint pen.

#33

I really like your studies :)! The speedskating one especially!

#34

Your pieces are getting better and better JoelHageman! Really loved the last two

#35

Where did the scale go, you ask?

I don’t know, man. I don’t know.

Some sort of hurry.

Beatrix -

I’ve been going for emulation of academic illustrators for a while.

Really…

                  ....

                         ...

                            ...

                                    ...

                                       ...

                                        ...

slowly…

           ...

                ...

                   ...

                           ...

                             ...

                                  ...

but…

… I think we went off the page.

Anyway, I do think I’ve been investing more effective efforts, recently.

I also need to figure out Instagram. I haven’t got my head around that one yet. It seems like an old Amiga or Commodore 64 in the corner for storing my pictures on. Like a phone storage app. May as well use a hard drive. Need to figure that one out.

Thanks for the comment and the looks!

Chantelle -

The skaters!?

Wow.

I’ve been so meticulous, lately, trying to track down physical attributes and details. It makes me think my style has been tightening up - that is, not as much flow, like the skaters probably. Then again, figuring out a subject, figuring out details, is figuring it out. Knowing-is-knowing type of thing.

Hey, I liked the lighting in the dark forest picture. Technique looks like it has potential, to me.

I’ll keep those skaters in mind because I did have fun with that. I’ll keep that in mind.

Thanks for letting me know.

Hugo -

Hey.

You think there’s improvement in these?

I was just telling Chantelle it seemed my style was getting a little cramped.

Just sayin’.

Each drawing is another go, though. That’s true. Just by chance, I found a direct comparison between one of the dancers on this thread and one I made like a year ago. The difference was more than I had remembered. So that’s something encouraging.

Wow. I’t’s like I’m still catching up here. I haven’t checked in to what you’ve got lately. The elf girl with the giant cleaver was pretty fun.

I’ll talk to you later.

Good anatomy studies! Seems everything looks better in a napkin  alot of people using napkins

#39

There are?

I gotta go and have a look.

#40

There are or all napkins i’ve seen are yours and i thought it were so many that also others were making! Ehehe
