Using a few different engines, I’ve done a reverse image search on a number of images. Thus far, I’ve found nothing incriminating.
Here’s the thing. Are there sudden jumps in quality? A few. Yes. However…
Regardless, a few jumps in quality aside, there’s nothing here that doesn’t scream “amateur”. Even the dragon and military models seem well within the reach of somebody with basic modeling skills.
I’ve mentored a few people over the years. Some progress very slowly, often making the same mistakes repeatedly and refusing to process critiques. I’ve also seen some grow as if they were born to create. These people have managed to go from default cube to fully textured character model in just a few months. It happens. It all depends on how much they want it, how much they’re willing to work for it, and how well they take direction. Natural artistic skill is important, but you should never underestimate the powers of drive and ambition. Enthusiasm can go a long, long way.
Look. Unless you have any concrete knowledge that they’ve stolen anything, there’s nothing you can do. Like I said, there are a few jumps, but nothing so excessively shocking. If this “Nocturnal Aurora” is an art thief then they are literally the least ambitious ever.
Might you be right and this “Nocturnal Aurora” is an art thief? Sure. Totally possible. It’s just as possible that they’re a natural artist or quick study. Some people are. Some aren’t. Despite having practiced for the bulk of my 45 years, I cannot draw to save my life. However, the first time I tried my hand at sculpting, I took to it like a duck to water. It felt natural. It made sense.
Again, you could be right. For now, I don’t see it. I’m leaning toward “not stolen” instead. If you, however, do find some concrete and irrefutable proof then I would suggest that you contact the real IP holder directly. There is literally nothing here that anybody can do. We’re not the rights holders.
FWIW, I get why you’re suspicious. I do. Just be careful about making such claims without actual proof. That’s a legal hornet’s nest you don’t want to poke.
I agree, sometimes one just has an “epiphany”
For years I could only create simple models from primitives
and remained frustrated as DAZ failed to provide the types of
Sci fi clothing I needed for My feature length animated film project using their
“genesis” models as actors
Suddenly early last year it was almost as though I was on the fictional brain drug
“NZT” and went from simple non organics to complete custom clothing outfits in about 30 days
Exactly. It’s like flicking on a light switch in room that had been dark for ages. Suddenly, you can see everything and are no longer stumbling in the dark. It can literally happen overnight. When it does happen, it’s like, “Wait. Why was this so hard before?” One minute you’re Keanu Reeves in Bill & Ted and the next minute, you’re Neo.
I think that all artists have that sudden moment of awakening. It just happens sooner for some artists than others.
Having said that, it’s also important to recognize our limitations. I suck at drawing. I admit it. My 2D skills are limited to napkin doodles. That’s okay though. There’s this great misconception that, if you’re a great 3D artist, you must be a great 2D one - especially if you want to be successful. That’s not true. I’ve met amazing painters who look dumbfounded at a block of clay and equally talented sculptors who are masters of the stick figure.
IMO, you can be a great artist without being equally great at all forms of art. You just have to find the one that clicks with you. If you do, there’s no shame in admitting weakness in other areas. Not everybody is good at everything. It’s called being human.
I would not be shocked to find out that "Nocturnal Aurora” had an “ah-ha” moment.
