Until someone gets a heart attack.

Hey guys,

I've been working on this today and I'm not feeling too sure about it so I thought I'd try to post it here to get some constructive feedback. I hope the story is easy to read, at least (it's simple). Any kind of advice is welcome of course, but I'm mainly struggling with the structure such as composition, leading the eye, framing, etc.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Kind regards,

Stijn

Very cool and funny start.
It’s hard to give any real useful comment that may help you because the image lacks of information regarding the background, give us more to chew on!
Maybe you will need to give more room to the woman in the cauldron!(but it’s only based on her current scale in your drawing)
Hope to see more of it.

Hey guys,

@tomylobo: thanks for the input! You told me to give the woman a bit more space but, no offence, your comment made me do the exact opposite thing. It made me think that, actually, bringing everything a bit more towards each other would make it feel a bit more sneaky and give it a more friendly atmosphere. That’s the feeling I’m trying to convey: a bunch of old friends having fun (not taking into account the heart attack :P).

I changed things up and went from a landscape to a portrait format and added a background and basic shading. I also made some minor changes to the druids.

Any feedback/input welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Stijn Van Doorselaere

I would raise the figure rising from the pot - being that low, and not having much vapor, she reads as a real figure standing in the pot - you need to give more visual clues that she’s made of smoke/vapor.

And, a small nitpick, most people would not be able to sit that close to a real fire without catching on fire or being REALLY uncomfortable.

@BillyWJ: thanks for the input! Not planning on moving her more towards the top, sorry. It’ll be more clear in color
A real fire? Who said anything about a fire? There’s no fire :stuck_out_tongue:
