Is XSI Global Illumination (or FG) Baking is ok for production?

#1

Hi, I ask that because I never got good result with LW, always some weird edges.

A project is coming now and I am preparing mentally. There will be some greenscreen footage where I will have to track the camera and create a realistic 3d room around the actors.

Is baking the textures and illumination in XSI stable and is there any flaws I should be aware of?

thanks

I’ve used baked Fg maps in the past for stills and it worked pretty well, but I don’t know how does it work if You want to bake an animated sequence.
I only did it with AO and it was perfect… Probably with Fg you need to tweak a few frames in photoshop to get right result.

Thanks for the reply Gatsu, I was starting to loose all hope.

I haven’t done it with sequences but couldn’t you just save out a local FG-map per frame?
