Is there an AddPoint tool in Modo?

#1

Is there an AddPoint tool in Modo like the one in Lightwave where I can simply add a point to a poly by clicking the location I’d like it to reside at?

thx

one step closer to knowing

I had the same question about a week ago then I figured out that the “Edge Slice” tool, with “Split Plygons” turned off is the equivelent. So I turned it of and saved a preset named the preset “Add Point” and now I have an add point tool.

Hope that helps.

actually, yeah, maybe it works for the surface polygon (triangles or quads or ngons) but what about curves , using the same tool in lw, u can paint ur point over a polygon or spline, but in modo edge slice don’t do the trick for splines…

I was playing with this today and came up with this:

Foe curves of regular type or Bezier, you can edit and add points. Go to Polygon mode and select the curve. Once selected, hit the Bezier or Curve command (whichever kind it is) and then choose edit from the modes selection.

It is kind of funky, but it makes sense quickly. Select a node on the curve near where you want your newly inserted one to be and hit add in the modes selection box for editing the curve. It will appear and be selected for you to move more aqccurately where you want it.

should we accept the workaround once again???
i think that i leaved lightwave modeler to get rid of the junk workaround, so why to have another here???
sorry nessjp, about the edit command yes we know, even u can make ur life easier using it, i suggest that once u selected ur curve and select command curve/edit, go to toolpipe and save preset, go to command line and map it to a key or make it a button command “edit curve”.
even so you have another choices to edit curves pplz, u can without any selection, just go to patch, edit edge, and start to increase to decrease the knots count, that is for refinning ur curve, it’s good, as well u can move ur knots and edges…
but the prob is that what if i want to split a curve, what if i want to add a point in btw or any amount of points btw 2 other points, what if i want to slide the new vertex on the curve.

u want to know what i’m talking about, go and c quick cut for lightwave by ikeda, and c the pathcut as well that have a add point and slide on curve.
i c the solution is to make a tool like edgeloop for points, and the ideal solution is to make a one tool that u choose it affect edges or points, same approach of edge loop is quick cut, so if can make it for points it will b good.
pathcut is very good for sliding on curve.
