Hello,
Does anyone know of a way to record a digital painting stroke by stroke. I am looking for something which doesn’t display the cursor but does display the strokes as they draw out.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Spencer

I think if you use Camtasia, you can set an option that allows you to not record the cursor, as it records that as separate data. There is a trial version if you want to try that.
Hi Ackdoh,
Unfortunately that means you’re stuck at screen resolution, plus it picks up all the canvas navigation.
I know as well that photoshop can ‘Allow tool recording’ but it’s only a half baked solution and doesn’t record the actual strokes being drawn.
After effects can also be used in conjunction with Illustrator using the stroke effect but again it’s only half a solution.
I’m surprised there hasn’t been something made that does this with all the advances in digital art.
Thanks

Hi guys.
I use ScreeFLow for the mac. You can record anything, edit, crop, speedup some parts, etc…
very simple and usefull software.
kind regards

Yes I’ve got a job on that requires a motion graphic sequence showing an oil painting being created. Ideally I’d be looking for a large video, 4000x4000 pixels that could be brought into ae for close-ups across the canvas showing the strokes being painted.
I was hoping zbrush or maya could do it but I’ve also looked at photoshop, painter and a couple of others and I’m coming up with blanks.
I think zbrush might be able to do it on very high spec machine but mine can’t handle the 4k canvas in realtime.
