I thought it would be cool if I could press a key to toggle a brush. Is there a way to do that?
is it possible; to assign a hotkey to alternate between brushes
Hi,
No, but we can accomplish the same thing, and more, using Custom Palettes, by dragging the brush variant icon onto the Painter screen to create a new Custom Palette (named Custom 1 or the next available number). Then we can drag other brush variants icons onto that Custom Palette or into another Custom Palette, depending on how we want to organize them.
The “and more” is that we can load another brush library, drag icons from that brush library into the same Custom Palette, then click any icon and if the related brush library is not currently loaded, it will be automatically loaded. This means switching between brush libraries is easy and quick.
If your Custom Palette contains multiple icons from the same brush category, in the Custom Palette, you’ll see the same brush category icon for all of them. To learn which icon launches a particular brush variant, hold your cursor very still over the brush category icon and the brush variant name will be displayed.
I’ll assume you’re using Painter 11:
To learn how to create and manage Custom Palettes, read the following:
Painter 11 Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > A Workspace Tour
Click the plus sign to the left of A Workspace Tour, then click Custom Palettes and read all of the information that displays in the left panel.
