Neither. A used Intuos1 or Intuos2 10" at least. You’ll thank me for it. I had a small Graphire and used a small Intuos3, and nothing is like a large (I settled on a 12" square serial) intuos.
I got a Intuous 6x8 because I use it with the mouse too. If you’re going to sit it next to the keyboard and use it with the mouse, you need the 6x8. If you are going to use it just with the stylus for painting, a 4x5 will do, and maybe getting the Intuous that senses tilt and feels better would be a better choice.

The quality of information you get will be commensurate with the input you provided (remember GIGO?)
Based on the scarce information given, any recommendations given can only be subjective and guesswork at best, and may not be good advice to you.
I would go as big as you can. I started with a graphire2 4x5 and currently use a 9x12 Intous. The only way I could afford the Intous was to take advantage of my work’s computer purchase plan. Anyway, I’ve never really noticed the tilt coming into effect on the Intous but I find the Intous is a little more responsive. I don’t know if it’s the levels of pressure or the fact that my graphire was a little scatched up. But with that said, if I had a choice it would be for the bigger graphire. It won’t limit your abililty to create great art. I still use my graphire with a laptop from time to time.

Thankyou everyone!
I have decided im going to save up longer and go for a Intuos 6x8
Thanks for the help,
any more input is welcome!
i bought an intuos3 6 x 8 while i was in college and i love it. the progammable sliders are great for zooming and brush sizing. when i got a job out of school, i was offered the larger 9 x 12 and tried it out for a while. i preferthe smaller size for various reasons, but most of all, if you are going to use it a lot, the bigger one is actually tiring.
