Interior scenes: proportions

#1

Hi all.
Just getting started with Max, I’m trying to make the remodeling of my home:
Not bad results for a beginner, but I think I am missing something. My renderings seem “cartoonish” and I think I’m missing something, especially with proportions.
Any tips on how to get the right proportions between objects and walls in room rendering?
Hope I made myself understood.
Thanks
maga

Can you post a screenshot?

My guess is that you have one of 3 things going on (or all 3 things at the same time)

First make sure everything in your scene is in proper scale and position to one another (use real units like meters or feet to make sure it matches your floor plan)

Another thing to check is your camera. You should be using a camera with a wide angle setting for interiors (50mm or lower)

Finally, if you have applied texture maps, make sure the texture scaling is set properly. A common mistake made by beginners is that they have their texture projected too large or too small. For instance, if you’re mapping a hardwood floor, make sure the planks of wood are the proper size in relation to everything else.

Hi all and thanks for the replies.
Hve been working hard and I think I got some results, and I post some screenshots.
I’ve benn searching hard for vray settings, but it seems very difficult to find someone who’s willing to share…in the end I downloaded a free plugin, vray preset manager, and with this I had some help.
Any suggestion is welcome.

Thank you

Wow, those renderings look alot better than I had imagined. I don’t really see a problem myself.

Thanks Optigon,

it took me weeks of hard work to get to this result…
But so far from the professional looking artworks I’ve seen.
Anyway, if someone would be so kind as to share some vray sattings one could play with them and maybe get better results than spending hours in pressing switches…

Hopefull someone with Vray experience will chime in. I know nothing about it:sad:

WELL…
I was looking at your pictures for 1.5 seconds each (I got to run) , and I DO see a problem.
I would say the problem you have is not in the MODEL proportions , but in the TEXTURES.
Your TEXTURES and materials are out of proportions i think.

But as i say, a 2 sec. glimps impression could be wrong !
