Insert Multi Mesh not "flat"?

#1

Sorry if this is an easily answered question (I’m new to Zbrush). I’m following a tutorial on insert multi mesh of adding jewels onto a model. When I apply the brush though, the meshes always apply skewed (opposed to the tutorial in which the jewels are flush with the normals).

I know I could rotate them but I’m applying an array of these jewels and it’s too tedious to manipulate over and over (rather than just get it right).

I should add that when I made the jewel meshes, I built them flat against the floor. I’m assuming it’s something to do with the normals or not “resetting the origin” but I couldn’t find anything online about this.

Can anyone help a newbie out? Thanks!

When you make a brush, turn perspective of on the right tray.
then when you move your brush your trying to make move it rotating the camera and look at the side view then front view, make sure you hold the SHIFT key down when rotating to SNAP into 1 position, have your object snapped facing you then make your brush.

you do not need to make 1 at a time, look on top under STROKE and go down and turn curve mode on, curve>curve mode
now drag over the mesh and soon as you start to draw hold the shift down and move it to align where you want a bunch of your object at, brush size is a factor and you have more option for your brush but this is just a example
