"Inscribing" a smaller version of a shape inside another

#1

Hi.

Is there a way to do this in LightWave 3D other than by hand?

I have a shape, like this:

and want to “inscribe” a smaller version inside it, like this:

(My drawings may not be very good, but hopefully they get the point across.)

So, is there some tool or technique that will ease this, or do I have
to painstakingly draw in the smaller version of the shape by hand?

Thanks for any answers.

select all the polys that make up the shape
shift+z to merge polys
select that SINGLE poly
press b for bevel
hold control key down and drag left/right to inset a new poly
with top viewport.

done.

Yep, if shape is conformed by several polys, you may want to use MultiShift.
