Influence of Art History in iconic animation?

#1

Hello everyone!

I am brand new to CGSociety- it’s nice to meet you!

I am currently attending a community college and planning on transferring to the Savannah College of Art and Design or Ringling College of Art and Design for animation.

At the moment, I am taking an Art History Survey course, focusing on European art from the 1400’s to the 1900’s and North American art from the 1800’s to 1900’s. Our final paper topic in the course is up to us and I would like to write about how art history has influenced iconic animated films/ video games. Many great artists have studied art history; it must influence their work in some way, be it the story of the media or art style!

Unfortunately, the database at my community college is small and information on this specific idea is slim to none; I’m not able to find what i’m looking for through Google (perhaps I’m not choosing my word searches well enough). I know there are many knowledgeable individuals on this site, so I am reaching out for help. Does anyone have any information/websites/books they could direct me to with more info on how art history has influenced major animated films/ video games?

If I have posted in an incorrect thread or if this is an inappropriate topic for this site, please let me know and I will have this one removed.

Thank you for your help!
