Indie RPG in need of all kinds of artists

#1

Team name:
InCharacter Studios (corporate paperwork in process)

Project name:
Araellia: Into the Maelstrom

Brief description:
Araellia - This is a new science-fantasy setting that mixes science-fiction with a dash of fantasy and post-apocolypse elements.
Into the Maelstrom - This is the first game in Araellia setting. It is a single player RPG with gameplay that mixes high heroics with in-depth storytelling.

Target aim:
“Indie” retail project (internet distribution only). I know this is kind of an oxymoron, but what I mean here is that we are making a retail style project, just only distributing it via internet sales, not boxes on shelves.

Compensation:
All revenues will be split via profit sharing. The total art asset percentage of retail gross that will be split by asset makers (including but not limited to concept sketches, 3D modeling, animation, textures, sound effects, and music) is 30%. We also have set aside 20% for freelance code work. This is the projected amount based on InCharacter Studios doing all of the code save some minor aspects. Should we do all of the code, the art assets split will go up. Artists are welcome to discuss submissions with us, and turn in rough drafts for critique prior to signing a contract or NDA. Final submissions (IE something you will get paid for) will require a contract and NDA be signed before acceptance.

Technology:
The engine is written in C#. The renderer for Into the Maelstrom is Managed DirectX. All 3d models must be in .x format when submitting.

Talent needed:
Concept Artists, 3D Modelers, Texture Artists, Sound/Music Artists.

Team structure:
Wraithdrit (Lead Design, Principle Coder) - I have eight years application development experience for government contracts, am trained in software processes, and have program management experience. I designed the Araellia setting, and Into The Maelstrom story. I came up with the design idea for the engine (what makes the engine different from others). I will oversee the art assets (approval and design specs mostly), and may end up doing some basic texture and concept sketches to get ideas across to the artists only. I am also hip deep in the code development working in areas to bring systems in place, then turning them over to Phaeden for bulletproofing. Lastly, I have an Associate’s Degree of Science in Computer Information Systems.

Phaeden (Lead Coder, Principle Design) - Phaeden has over ten years experience writing software for government contracts, implementing software processes, and has program management experience. He truly is the coding powerhouse behind InCharacter studios (I bow before his mad skillz). An expert at code refactoring, interface implementation (C# interfaces, not GUI), and other strange or esoteric elite programming methods, he has taught me more in how to code over MSN Messenger than my entire college career did. Lastly, he has a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Computer Science.

Update: Our first Concept Artist is hard at work and after several rough drafts and back and forths, we have our first concept sketch completed:

More will follow, and I'll try to keep this thread updated every once in a while with our progress.

We continue to get concept art rolling in (I’m only posting some of it here, there are a lot more where this came from) but so far I only have a couple of modelers, one potential texture artist, etc.

So if you are looking to join an indie project that will succeed, and to make a little money when it does, come check out Araellia: Into the Maelstrom at http://www.araellia.com or email me at wraithdrit@araellia.com.

We have lots of models in progress, but nothing that is final or textured to show.

We are still recruiting for the following:

Concept Artists: Character artists, technology items, creatures, etc.

Modelers: All areas, but especially character modelers.

Animators: For character and monster animations.

Texture Artists: For textures of almost all objects, characters, monsters, levels, etc.

Work on props and sets continues, but the project is in serious need of a good character modeler. If you want to be a part of an indie team that has an exciting project with lots of opportunity to bulk up your portfolio, and get a little pocket money at the same time, then by all means, please contact me.

I’ll contact someone who graduated from Al Collins, but I can handle any sound you need. Don’t really care about profit spliting or anything. I used to do it as a hobby. You tell me what you want and I’ll hit the Acid. No not drugs, the program. The music I currently have is close to hip hop, alternative, gothic and Angelic/Sci Fi. Email me if you want some free songs and such, Jenisiz7@hotmail.com

I appreciate the offer, and when it comes time for music, I’ll look you up, but right now we must recruit a good character modeler.
