Indie Game Developer Seeking Artists

#1

First, let me say that this is, in essence, a hobby project at the moment, and thus no pay. We are, however, making a top quality product and are intent on publishing the games we produce. We have several avenues under exploration at the moment, and our games are all but guaranteed to get published, provided we can get some quality artwork to go with the innovative designs and top-notch programming.

Our approach is, while not totally unique, quite different from most indie developers. We will develop small games at first, as many others do, but we will not simply produce clones with our new graphics, as they do, but add and expand upon the gameplay to make truly unique games. We are also focusing on a single genre, strategy, to help build a loyal fanbase, and fine-tune our skills within that genre. We expect all artists that apply to understand and support this, if not even be enthusiastic about it. Most of our art needs will be for tile-based games (some isometric, some square), because we are focusing on strategy games.

What we need most at the moment, is a Lead Artist, someone who can meet all our art needs for these small games, while we build a larger art team. The Lead Artist will be responsible for all artwork, handing out tasks to other artists, and making sure it is done in a timely manner. The team may give insight, opinions and suggestions, and while we expect you to take those seriously, it will be your department, and you will have the final say in artistic matters.

I will take applications by email. You can reach me at MindsEye_0 AT hotmail DOT com. Do not send images in the initial email, just links to websites or failing that, just a blank email with “Lead Artist” or “Artist” in the subject line, depending on which position you want. I will provide an alternate email to send images to at that time, if you do not have images on the web. I will respond within 48 hours to let you know we’ve received your email and are looking at it. It may take a few weeks before we make a decision, since we want to make sure we get the right person for the Lead Artist position. Once a Lead is chosen, all other applications will be forwarded to him, and he will choose the artists that he wants for his team.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

PS. Please, only US citizens 18 or older need apply. This is going to be a business one day, thus we need all potential employees in the US and of legal working age.
