inbetweens for corrective blendshapes (Maya)

#1

Hi everybody,

I’m facing something which is very important but I can’t figure it out.

Can somebody explain how to create in betweens for corrective blend-shapes and reversed shapes.

For example if we have 2 poses, “lidClose” and “browDown” with 3 betweens for each one of them. It’s not hard to create the corrective and reversed blends but it’s very confusing to create inbetweens for reversed shapes.

Although logically it looks simple but it’s been impossible for me.

Thanks guys

I think it’s rather straightforward, you close the lid joint half-way, sculpt your corrective shape, solve that with whatever tool you use for solving corrective shape and then add resulting shape as corrective’s inbetween for the lid close.

I’ve done some solutions where I’d setup it not as inbetweens, but as separate blends instead. in that case, it would be:

for blends [lid_mid_corrective,lid_closed_corrective]
lid opened: weights [0.0, 0.0]
lid closed halfway: weights [1.0, 0.0]
lid closed: weights [0.0, 1.0]

as lid is closing, in 0-50% range, interpolate between vectors 1 and 2; in range 50%-100%, interpolate between vectors 2 and 3.
