In 3ds MAX the userpaths are limited to 1024 - how do I set them correctly?

Hi all,
how do you provide all maps for a scene to network-rendering?

I used a networkdrive for all my maps and set the userpaths of the scene to this drive. So all rendernodes could load all the maps for a scene from that drive. But now my maplibrary seems to be to big to handle… when I set the userpaths (with all subfolders) I get the message “paths limited to 1024”.
Do I have to make an archive of the scene before I can render it?

Thanks for your tips!

make the path to the main assets a mapped drive, for example:

instead of:
c:/users/username/documents/work/resources/textures

make it:
x:/resources

this way you cut down all necessary characters before you get to your actual resources directory.
