Iceworld // Looking for feedbacks :)

#1

Hi everyone, I’m kinda new here, this is my first post.

This is a concept illustration I'm working on and I could use critics & comments to improve my workflow and my digital painting skills :).

The concept I had in mind was a cold world, where the planete has been recovered by snow and ice, thats why the only people left are now living in earth cracks, aiming to gain some warmth. But all the cities needs to trade with each other, and this situation gave birth to huge exchange platforms on top of these cracks.

I hope it's clear for you as it is for me, english isn't my native language.

I started detailing but before I’m going too far, I think some critics would be very useful.

Hope you will like it and I'm waiting for your comments :), thanks for watching!

Little update, I started defining the houses in the crack.

Thanks for watching, critics and comments are gladly welcome

That’s a good start. I would add more atmospheric perspective and brighten the lights of the city, maybe add some glow. Take a look at Feng Zhu’s stuff for inspiration. And do find some reference for the mountains and perhaps cities in winter time, it helps a lot. This should turn out to be a really nice piece at the end ;]

Thank you for your nice and constructive comment!
It was in my mind to brighten the city lights, but I don’t know yet how I gonna manage this, but it can only be fun I guess. I’ll try to look more at some refs, most of the time I forget to do it.

I’ll try to post an update as soon as possible  .

Thank you for watching!

I think the sky needs a different texture.

I hope you don’t mind the paintover.

Hi Klaus! I think your image is a very good concept. Nice color palette and creative image. Must say that the first concept with the open hangar is the best (I think it’s a hangar ;)). It’s something about the light and that it is possible to look into/under that makes it so good. The red/orange color has the right balance and makes the perfekt evening light. Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

After a little time, a little update ^^.

@ Greenhouse: many thanks for your kind comment, but I’m not sure about the hangar you’re talking about, if you refer to the big building in the middle, I see it more like a big giant market above the earth crack, were merchants of every horizon meet in order to trade. but once again thank you for the support!

@ Frostblade: I don’t have any problem with paintover :), thank you for taking the time, after many thoughts, I decided that the image had too much light in it, and for the purpose of the theme ( I think more of a hostile environnment) I removed the light that was casted on the building, because I think it looks like more hostile and cold now.

Thank you for watching!
I’ll keep you posted
