Ice Temple

Hi there!
This is my first post here, so let me introduce myself…I’m a spanish guy living in London (lovin’ it ! but the rain ¬¬ hehe). At that moment my portfolio was mainly based on a cartoon and cg animated features style , now that i’m finally done with my last project and seems like I will have some spare time I’m really looking forward to create some matte-paintings to add to my portfolio
So… this is an attempt to one of then. Hope you like it !

Carlos! great one man. I dont really have anything to crit but maybe you could push those mountains behind that bridge even further into the background. It might also help sell the vastness of the space. I really like the attention to design/style to the entrance and the whole mountain as well.

I am going opposite from you haha I have been doing matte painting but I am trying to improve my painting skills to be able to do cartoon/animation feature backgrounds.

I have been following your work over on cghub for a while now, I have to say your work is very inspiring to me.

Keep it up!

Really impressive work, very inspiring!

Did you use any other resource pics or was it all from original plate / hande made?

awesome work mate, as usual!! keep them coming!

Looks very well technique-wise, congrats. My only two crits would be moving the entrance a little more to the left, and push the middle mountain ( the one between the ones in the shade and the main one) further back to have a bit more depth.

Very good work, nevertheless.

This is cool man, I think one thing I’m seeing though in it is that the color of the stone on your temple is a bit off compared to the rock on the mountain. It just seems to me that it might fit in better if the color matched a bit more to the rock in the plate, also, the lion on the left side should probably have some light hitting it as it doesn’t seem like it would be fully in shadow from where the light is coming from. Other than that, it’s cool man! Good work.
