I5 Minute Sketchathon - Thread 2: Sketches

#1541

Back again for a Sunday night try. Must apologise for my bad choice of brushes. I’m sure if i’d thought about it, I would have noticed that for side lit skin, a large soft dusting brush would have been better.

I’m sure we all get the idea though.

btw Great work crush.

Great to see this thread alive…nice work guys…Paul, great to see you here! Looks like your sketching is becoming more confident!

Okay, nothing special but I needed to contribute to this thread:

[left]Photo ref from Hong Ly’s site, characterdesigns.com. Around 11-15 minutes.

Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback guys, any crits??

Here is another one. about 17 minutes.

#1544

michael-olszak,

Ooh, that last one is really nice! Better reference definitely helps! BTW check out the great reference posted to my friend Hong Ly’s site here:

http://www.characterdesigns.com/index.php?sitepage=photosets

I use a lot of his photos for the Open Figure Drawing Workshops, all of which are linked here:

Definitely check them out, they’re a great way to do more in~depth drawing / painting study! We will be starting a new one late Sunday / early Monday. Anyone is welcome to join! We will likely be doing a Caravaggio Master Copy, and / or will be using Photo Reference from Hong’s site.

Cheers,

nice Photo’s, very good reference material. i’ll be very bussy comming weeks i think.
also the Open Figure Drawing thread is very interesting, althoug i’m not sure if i’ll be able to pull something like this off. i think i’ll give it a shot.

BTW, nice schetch Rebeccak. I always have trouble with keepin things simple.

cheers.

#1546

ok, been a while but seems like painter isn’t quite my thing!

#1547

Hello everyone, i’m kind of “environments” guy and i’m trying to get better the “characters” and antomy issues… so i’m new in the 15 minutes forum  .
I took this image from the references section of this forum, and make my image in Photoshop in 15 minutes, i didn’t pick the colors from the original.

Nothingness, See those strokes on your piece? Thats one of the reasons I love painter. You just have to play with it some more and you’ll fall in love with it.
Rizo: welcome to the sketchathon. I am so jealous of your environment design background. I can play with characters all day long, but if I try to put them in an environment, I fail miserably. Your sketch is also very nice. Have fun here.

Here is one of the newer refs from tiziano; Great refs there
I didnt have time to blend this one. Although I intend to play with it some more but change some things and if it turns out right, use it for an avatar.

#1549

Hello everyone, I’m new here too. I have been trained as a writer, but right now more interested in CG and 3D-animation. I’ve decided to work on my basic drawing skills… this seems good practice!

Did the tiziano-ref, about 15 min. work:

trying to work on the values…

#1550

Nothingness,

Nice sketch, I think this is starting to have a nice feel!

Hiya Rizo,

Welcome aboard! I like the quality to your sketch, it has a lot of potential! Looking forward to more!

Queensoul,

Nice start to the face! It would be great to see you develop this piece!

Maladie,

Hey, great to see you here! Nice value study, I think it’s great to see you doing that!

A big special thanks to tizianoadmirer for providing so many great References! This takes a huge burden off of me, and I really appreciate the contribution!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#1551

My pleasure, Rebecca. I immensely enjoy to see what all the amazing artists here can do with these, so sketch away, I’ve just posted a new, huge serie

#1552

hey queensoul, i guess painter is preferred for these kind of things, but it is almost like my 15 min. were up sooner than when i use photoshop. I’ll do a photoshoppy for now and will try painter some more often.

#1553

okay, i’m back, and now with some 15min photoshop sketchin’
i work so much faster in photoshop than painter. I should work more often with painter to get the feel of it. But for now not much time.

Cheers`

#1554

Hi Queensoul, well i’ve been using Painter (IX) the last 14 mothns and a few weeks ago i discover that the pressure sencitivity in Photohshop is way better than it is on Painter, that made me change to Photoshop as my main drawing software…
And thanks for the coments on my environments, i just want to be abble to mix character and backgrounds…

#1555

Nothingness,

Nice atmosphere to this one!

Today’s 15 min from tiziano’s great ref:

#1556

i also love to paint with light instead of shadow.
I’ll try some more soon

#1557

Heya, thanks Nothingness! I finally got my groove back.

Cheers,
