I want Bouncing Boobs!

#1

MAX has this ‘spring’ controller that makes it easy to simulate objects suspended on spring (except the spring is invisible). The spring action can be influenced by one or more objects, dampening, force etc. Applying spring controllers to helpers and linking stretchy bones to those helpers, is a cool recipe for bouncing bellies and boobs.

Now I don’t see the word “Spring” in under Constraints OR Modifiers in Blender 2.54. :hmm: I’m wondering how one can simulate a realistic (or near real) bounce on a character’s boobs without actually animating/keying the bounces.

hmm… softbody sim?

There was a post in the Big Buck Bunny blogs, that showed a rig of bunny’s belly.
Maybe, that might help.

You can add softbody to it by assigning vertex groups to the mesh. Although I’d probably prefer animating it. I think it’s better to animate things like that than resort to simulations. Simulations take time and if it goes wrong, you’d have to tweak the settings to conform to what you’re looking for whereas when you just animate it, you’ll just have to worry about the rendering time. Of course it takes time rigging it but it’s worth it for it being reusable and you have more control over it.

I agree bones and animation should still be the basis for this, but add, as mentioned, vertex groups(“weight maps”) that controll the softbody sim, with low weight/strength and it should do pretty well, I’d think…
