Hi …

I need some tips about how to start with 3ds max , I know that maybe all of you guys studied 3ds in the university but as you know my country is in a bad shape so its really impossible to find a place to learn 3ds in it .

I know a little about 3ds max and i like the animation more than the modeling so anyone can tell me how and from where to start with 3ds max ?

sorry about my english and thank you for your time .

first off, your english isnt that bad :slight_smile:

secondly, i’d try reading up more. There is actually a very growing 3d community in the middle east right now, and you might be able to find some resources in your own language that would be easier to understand. that being said, start with the 3ds documents and resources. You’ll want to understand how 3ds modelling, texturing, and lighting works before you move on to animation. This website has more tutorials and resources than you can shake a stick at.

Good luck!

Start with Help->Tutorials. Seriously.
And don’t miss the forum stickies (Tutorials galore, FAQ and Max Secrets)

PS: I never studied on any university, I’m completely self thought, my first two or three years learning Max I didn’t had internet access either.
Don’t except too much too soon, keep a steady pace, take a given amount of time per day for learning and never give up. Good luck.

By no means you need an university to learn 3D. Use the tutorials, read up the forums, post with questions. Be persistent, work a lot, have fun, and you will make a lot of progress. And though there are more and more of 3D people in the middle east (Egypt, Iran, Iraq, etc), in a place like this, with everybody speaking English, it’s no big deal where you’re from :wink:

P.S.: Keeping my fingers crossed for your country man.
