i have setup spline ik in maya ,and export to mb,is fail.how to fix it?

i want setup spline ik in maya,but the motionbuilder unsupported ,and export to mb and create tail character extension? but the train ik set to the tail bone and click ‘active’. it is filped immediately.operation is fail. how to fix it?

BAD NEWS…

Spline IK doesn’t come over to MotionBuilder.
in fact… NO IK comes over.
or Parent constraints.
or Nurbs.

You’d be better off getting the mocap onto a control rig in Mobu and exporting the animation onto a more complex rig in Maya.

BUT you can use “Chain IK” in Mobu. drag the constraint onto the first joint.
then open the constraint in the ASSET BROWSER window. Alt drag the end joint into
the “last joint” holder.
and the for good measure… create a “NULL” and use that as your polevector controller.

One quick note on this, Geordie is correct, a spline IK setup will not pass through Maya to MB as we don’t have this type of constraint in MB.

However, Simple IK constraints will transfer through FBX.

  • Create a Chain IK, this will cross to Maya
  • creating a simple ikRPsolver IK setup will cross to MB
    Simple Constraint Setups will pass through FBX from MB to Maya or Maya to MB.
  • Point,Aim,Orient,Scale,Parent

Make sure you have the flag checked on export for “Constraints” and this data will transfer to MB and back.
