Hydraulic crane rig

#1

Hey guys. So i got problem, i have stuck with this for week now. I hope someone will be able to help me. And yes, i apologize about my english.

So the problem…
I have this crane and i have idea of animation where crane picks up log and puts it into truck. Problem started when i used Link Constraint. I this video you can see the problem:

All i know is that this is somehow caused by object A pivot (see image)

Also there’s another problem. At frame 0 cylinder is linked to world, then at 100 frame it’s linked to crane, but in 200 frame when i link it back to world and move the crane back cylinder is still attached to crane.

Can anyone explain why is that so and what i am doing wrong? Maybe any other suggestions how to rig that crane so it would work?

Hey budzis,

You´re using 3DS Max? Good, then please be so kind and tell us, so we might help you better.

Look at your keyframes for the link constraint. Probably they don´t jump from 0 to 100% in one frame or something else is off in terms of animation. The link constraint is the right thing to do here as well. Keep on pushing.

Cheers

Hey, sorry, yes im working with 3DS Max.

Well thats the problem. I have checked keyframes and all available options on Link Constraint but still without change. Maybe i missed something.
About that cylinder sliding of position, i have tried many different ways to rig that crane, but still no changes. Im just out of ideas how to make it work.

Anyway thanks for your advice, ill give it another shot.
