nice model…some things i see, is that the model is of a very young guys build, but there is alot of wrinkles, and a few ageing tells on this characters skin, especially around the eye’s, its in contrast to the mouth area, he looks like he would have smoother skin…try makeing the wrinkles around the eyes a little less intense. and the cut is still a little too clean. iits not that the skin texture is bad at all, i think its really good, just not that suited??

#1323

This is my first attempt at skin. I have basically everything on it’s own layer so if you guys see anything strikingly wrong say so. He’s supposed to be an older fellow, a real hard ass.

#1324

th shader looks a simple lambert with the skin texture…

#1325

Yea it does look very boring. I havnt prepared a bump and spec map yet because I still have other texturing to do. I didn’t realize how crummy it would look without them.

#1326

what software are you using?

#1327

Maya, Photoshop and zbrush

#1328

You should explore some of the mental ray skin shading options. If you’re using maya 6.0 and above check out this link.

#1330

Here’s my latest skin and texture…I think the back scattering on the ear may be a little much though.

#1331

the skin is really good, but it’s simply too yellow, just change a bit the epidermal scatter color,

And those black spots on her face…seem to be…i dunnow the word in english, but they seem those little black points that appear on the skin and if you squeeze it they come out like toothpaste…what’s their name?

#1332

blackheads?

#1333

Yeah!Blackheads!they really look blackheads!

this looks nice, but there are some issues. i agree with what learner88 has said, especially with the blackheads…i beleive your trying to get freckles there? soften down on the color map, and get some brown into them, should soften them up. also, way too yellow, might have your diffues colour, or epidermal colour on too high, check the weights of both, and play around with them, as the scale of your model will determine how this is shown. find a good photo with a similar sort’ve result as far as skin texture, and try duplicating it as close as possible, as far as how the skin is showing up with your light setup, i think the back scattering should be fine once you sorted that out. its looking good otherwise, like the model!

i think the beard is far too white, there needs to be some skin showing through there, and i would definitly check out the MiSSS shader, i think for human skin its just the requirement now.

#1335

Thanks y’all. Yeah I forgot that I had set my key light to a saturated yellow color. And thanks for the blackhead crit…definately don’t want the freckles to come off as acne.

#1336

If the light is yellow, maybe the skin is right, maybe you would place her in a warm environement with yellow tones in the background…can we see the same render with a white light?

#1337

I rendered out a turntable in a nuetral lighting situation. You can probably get a good look this way. Thanks alot for the feedback. I’m about to move onto the hair and wanna make sure I get this right. On a very tight deadline so your comments are greatfully appreciated.

hi everybody
what if i want to create a person in 3d and use photos as textur, i couldnt find anything about that, its always “painting skin”
are there any tips you would give me before i try to create one textur map out of three photos or is that a stupid idea anyway ?!

http://home.arcor.de/poekelwurst/bilder/kopf/kopf0028.jpg
mesh

http://home.arcor.de/poekelwurst/bilder/kopf/Kopf%20Textur%20HighResFinal002%20Kopie1.jpg
is that the right way to do it ?! quality is worse i now but its just a test

quick testrender

i would appreciate critics because improving the mesh at this point is really hard for me and i am neither satisfied with the mesh nor with the way its textured…

for help and guidance searching

Poex!i’ts a method i really like and it’s also used by artists! And the results are nice if you can do it well! That texture looks good, but you should blen a bit better the 3 images, and you must blend the ear wrinkles with the rest of the head, because the geometry will give that detail, not the texture!

#1340

thx for the replay learner
how do i combine the texture with the uv map ?! push the uv points in the right place or stretch the textur?!
i am trying different methods of blending and they seem to work good but i find it very difficult to brighten up certain areas (for example beneath the jaw or the ears) do you know any tutorial dealing with the problems of combining different photos ?!

thx again poex
