How would I create this camera movement effect?

#1

I’m toying around in AE and I’m working on making a Kinetic Typography video.

What I want to do is have my background animated/moving as if it’s the camera that’s moving.
Here’s an example:

How could I go about creating this effect so it looks natural/non-manufactured?

Thanks guys.

I actually just did a kinetic typography thing for the LA Derby Dolls.

The easiest way to get that movement is using an awesome tool Andrew Kramer made called Sure Target. Check out the tutorial!

And probably the most important thing about it is the timing with the audio. Even just having text pop on in sync with when it’s being spoken looks slick all by itself.

That looks great, dude. Very nice.

This is my very first attempt at it. Took a scene from Dexter.

It’s out of sync on a couple parts. But I’m pretty proud of it, being my first.

If you want a nicer camera shake, use the expression: wiggle(value, value)

replace the first “value” for any number you like and pickwhip the second one to a slider control.

a lot of camera shakes look so fake lately as the wiggle function isn’t very random. Using wiggle in rotation as well as position also helps it look a bit more real
