How to transfer mb to .x

#1

I use MAYA to create character and scene for my testing game. After I finish the model I use /// to transfer animation mb file to .x file. But when I use some of these .x file in mesh viewer, it happens as below problem:

1. If animation of character move too large(EX:rise arm for 90º or twist the upper body). The animation of .x file will be strange.

2. When I bind skeleton to model and transfer the file, It didn’t have any motion if I use IK to set character’s animation. It only has animation when I adjust the joint directly(It very inconvenient).

3. Could somebody suggest me which program is best for transferring the maya file to .x file?

THX a lot.

i don’t think it’s a good idea to use the .X format as you’ll loose lot’s of property of your file … see if the tool you use to create your game don’t accept another file format … i’ve created little games and i’ve always used the special format of my creating game tool …

… but to answer to your question i’ve heard that okino has created a great tool for conversion maybe you can try it :

http://www.quest3d.com/index.php?id=102 Have you tried the exporters here?

The .x file format is ****ing terrible. Get your programming staff to change to something else if at all possible.

If you use the DirectX 9 API for your game there is a release which includes a maya exporter (maya 6 and procedural texture supported).

here is the downloads link :

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/directx.asp

hope it will help you.
