how to set up my spine controlers?

hello guys…i have set up a cartoon character but i am confused about how to do my spine controlers…should i use IK (clusters)or FK or both? i am also confused that although i have two joints attached to spline ik i got 4 clusters? do i have to use them all? i attached a picture of my work to have a look? if u could help i would appreciate…thank you
