How to set custom display options as default?

#1

Hi all
How do you set you custom display options as default? I want to have headlight, wireframe on shaded and shaded view everytime I open xsi…

Thanks

Display > display options (all cameras)

When I change it from there, it also makes my ortographic views shaded and I don’t want that…
I want shaded+viewframe on shaded+headlight in my camera view every time I turn on the application.

Thanks

There’s a little plug-in that would do that. Grab it here:

http://cid-485226d6dd07a5e2.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Softimage/DefaultDisplayOptionsPlugin.js.zip

Install the included JS file in your plugins folder, then launch SI and go to View-> Set Default Display Options, and configure the views in the following dialog.

Next time you create a new scene, the settings should be applied automatically.

If there’s an easier way to do this, then I’m yet to find it, and this plug-in does a good enough job for me…

When I go to View-> Set Default Display Options I get “unexpected failure”

Thanks though
Anyone else?

Try re-downloading it. I uploaded the wrong file earlier, so that could be it. If that doesn’t solve it, then sorry, but it’s working fine over here.

#7

nope, still nothing…

Drag and drop this plugin into any viewport to install

This should do what you want either save a scene with all your display options made. or after a new scene or when Softimage starts:

Clear the history in the script editor
make all the changes you want
Copy the contents of the script history into the script editor
save the script

File>new Scene Options:

Point to either the script or the scene file.

PS there is a usage readme in this plugin

Ok, I’m starting to think I’m retarded

What should I “drag and drop into viewport”? When I open link you gave me it opens like text? If I save that text as xyz.js and drag it into viewport, as soon as I hover above the viewport I get a “no-can-do icon” and if I drop it, nothing happens…

I also saved my script with all the changes I made but I can’t find “scene options” :S

Can you please be more specific, thanks

Click on the above link
on the XSI base page
Right-Click on the title link NewScene Options
Save as
It should save as .xsiaddon

Drag and Drop that addon into any viewport in Softimage.

Let me know if that works

ok, it worked. BUT
this way also requires some additional clicks and it’s not really default settings

shaderop again modified his plugin so now it works
here is the newest link - http://cid-485226d6dd07a5e2.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Softimage/DefaultDisplayOptionsPlugin.js.zip
he said he will try to add one more option - the ‘specular’ for the headlight

thanks

You can also try this.
Set all my options for scene ,copied all the stuff (commands) from the script editor.
I made an “event” in the plugin manager
and paste copied stuff in TODO part of “event”.
I think I made onnewscene and on startup events.

Valjda sam ti objasnio?
Pozdrav!
