How to render every Nth frame?

#1

I do PAL testrenderings in 3dsMax. I render every 10th frame.
Then I import it into AFX. Going back and forth in the timeline by pressing SHIFT+PAGEUP/PAGEDOWN is quite nice (10-frame-jumps).
But now I want to render a preview which takes only every 10th frame into account and sets the playbackrate (of the rendered AVI) to 2.5 frames per second, so that it would be played back in “realtime” - but only every 10th frame.
Got me?
Please don’t tell me to retime the comp. I tried that, but AFX mis-calculates some frames and shows the colorbars every now and then. Not very satisfying…

Any hints?

thank you!

Thats funny because i have the same question this morning !
I try somethning with time remmaping but i didnt find the right way.
(i used this code to skip frame, because of problem of frame rate (24-29,97)

n = 5; // skip every nth frame
frameToSkip = 4; // 0,1,2 ...n-1
currFrame = timeToFrames(time);
currFrame += Math.floor((currFrame - frameToSkip)/(n-1)) + 1;
framesToTime(currFrame)

Is there no build-in function for that? :cry:
anyway - thanks ST-Craft! That’s a starting point.
Where do you put that script?
(sorry - I haven’t used AFX for a looong looong time)

Alt+click on the ‘‘Clocktimer’’.

Not sure if it can resolve ur thing but when u import images (Select all), do not click on sequence, just import image. Gonna take few seconde\minutes to load, then drag them at the timeline.

Select single composition, click sequence layer and in the Still duration put the time you want.
