how to make materals and render sequence .obj or .lwo files?

#1

hi, is there anyone know how to render .lwo or .obj sequence files?

I had used Xfrog made a flower bloom animation, then i exported it to .lwo files. but I don’t know how to render it . this animation include branchs’ grow and flowers bloom , so i want the materials change with time gone,

further more, is there any way to render different .lwo file sequence with same surface in LW?

any advice is wecome , thanks

Hi,

If you have an LWO-sequence, you can go here and download MDD Compiler (scroll to the bottom of the page), which takes a seqence of LWOs and creates a vertex cache. This, of course, means that the LWOs have to have matching number of vertices. It wouldn’t work with an object sequence that change the number of polygons over time (such as a water simulation for example).

cageman,
thanks for your replay. but unluckly, my .lwo sequence files just composed with different amounts of surfaces. so , how can i render it ?..

or, is there a genius programmer can write a plug-in for it? It’s sound so beautiful hahaha …

I’m not sure if this will help, but I’ll have a go at it.

If your object sequence is (for example) Flower0001.lwo; Flower0002.lwo, etc., then the Object Replacement plugin in Lightwave should work. You load in your first object, then go to the Properties (of the object) and in the Geometries Tab about half way down (in LW9.x) is the Object Replacement area. I believe it was broken in 9.2, but fixed in 9.3. Not sure about 9.3.1 or 9.5.

If you want to surface all of your objects at once, RealFlow has (I believe a free) plugin that will replace all of the surfaces in mesh. I’m not sure if it replaces multiple surfaces or just one surface. I used it for a RealFlow water fountain object sequence and it worked great.

HTH.

Megalodon
i used realflow plugin months ago, and it’s a good way for itself meshs. but i don’t sure it works for my said different amounts surfaces .lwo sequence. so i will try it . thanks a lot.

If you can create a vertex cache, you only need one object which you apply the vertex cache to.

For object sequence surfacing, we also have the fixed Interialabs ScrubReplace:
http://www.spinquad.com/forums/showpost.php?p=225613&postcount=146
You need to logon to Spinquad to read that one…

On the next page, the fixer explains

"there is a program flow bug in this, the work around is

Open interface
Set all the options
DO NOT write updated surfaces.....
just OK the requester

Open interface again

now you can write updated surfaces.....

i’m so excited to see your reply, i hope it is the correct way to render these .lwo file .
