How to keep environmental map and stop its reflections on the models



I am using 3ds max 2019 with vray.

I want to use custom HDRI maps for the backgrounds.
What I don’t want is that HDRI is over lightning my models. I want to keep the background/environmental map to be seen in renders without it having any lightning effect on my models in the scene. For lightning effects I want to use only my lights without environment.

I spend quite some time searching for the solution and didn’t find it yet. What should I do?

Assign your HDRI map to a dome light… in the options of dome light - “switch off” affect diffuse / specular / reflection… also dont forget to keep the visibility of the dome light ON in options!
