How to cut rectangle holes in cylinder properly in 3DS Max

Hi,

I need to cut some rectangular holes in cylinder-like shape and then apply turbosmooth modifier. I can’t add support edges without making things ugly.

Here’s a simple part of the model. Can someone help me with this, I’ve been struggling for hours.

Add more sides to your base cylinder (64 to a 100!), having more geometry will lock in the roundness of the cylinder and allow you to carve into the mesh with minimal artifacts.
