1:25 seconds in, the bottles are wrapped around a sphere and do a wave effect? how can this be done? the whole sphere effect and push pin effect
How to create this wave effect?
Looks like a Cinema 4D MoGraph setup, but i guess this could be achieved with almost any 3d package.
If you want something remotely similar (aligning layers on a 3D sphere and have them distorted/moved) in compositing then take a look at Trapcode Form.
Cinema4D is a weak application I don’t know why it gets so much credit…I doubt it is Trapcode Form these are 3D objects
I sort of know a way in 3D MAX anyway, using the pin displacement tutorial
They obviously didn´t use Trapcode Form for this one, but since you posted your question the Compositing and Editing forum I suggested this Plug-In for a similar effect in 2d/3d compositing. I have seen people getting pretty amazing results with it.
Easily creating these kind of effects is one of the reasons Cinema 4D "gets so much credit" in motion graphics.
lol as if Cinema4D can do things no other application can…doubtful…it is a poor mans version of Max and Maya, which serious 3d people use…just because the MoGraph interface is easy enough for a 10 year old to use, doesn’t mean Max can’t do any of this stuff…
.u enjoy keyframing each property one by one in Cinema4d? in max u just hit auto keyframe and it captures them all…
Did you read my first post?
I only answered your question as to why Cinema 4D is being popular in certain areas... If you don´t like it, then just don´t use it. No reason to start a app war...
what is this bias against c4d? you can this effect very quick on it, using mographs cloner and some random effector, you will only need the 3d model of the bottles, also c4d “is not a real 3d app?”, yes it is…you may be offended because so many people that aren’t 3d technicians use it to make “cool shit” and i understand that, but it is a serious application and has been used on hollywood.
If its so easy a “10 year old can use it” then why cant you just make the effect ?
You say you know Max pretty well. There, problem solved, go do it in Max and stop talking nonsense on this thread.
I don’t usually follow this section of CGTalk and I don’t use Cinema4D, but this comment is so amazing I had the urge to reply!
In first place, it’s amazing because you came over here asking for help, asking for a way to achieve a certain effect, and people answered you giving useful suggestions. Now, what do you do? Do you thank them?! No, you find it more productive to belittle them without even thinking on what you are saying. Which leads me to the second point…
Saying Cinema4D is a weak application only shows how little you know about it and how little you know about 3D applications in general. Because the things you are able to achieve with Cinema4D with MoGraph are either impossible to do in other 3D applications (maybe not impossible, but they either would take forever to accomplish or you would get insane trying) or you would need a big amount of work (and knowledge) to replicate. Even if we take MoGraph out of the equation, Cinema4D is nothing to sneeze at, as you can attest by looking at its features and gallery (specially in the Science-Fiction and Fantasy), unless I have really low standards!
I just have to post this after reading his comments about c4d.
I’m a maya user, my boss is a c4d user. He can whip things up in c4d that look great. In our case it’s usually titles and stuff. Your comments promote ignorance and that’s no way to behave on a forum. Shame on you.
I believe the ad was made with a 2d particles application and of course
C4d works the best for me.
