How to create individual textures for multiple objects in a scene?

#1

Hi ,

New to Mudbox and attempting to texture a knee joint. I have loaded all the bones and soft tissue as separate objects. How can I paint a unique map for each object? I have attempted turning off and locking other objects with no success. It seems the layers are only for painting effects. Surely Mudbox can create multiple textures for multiple objects in a scene, but whatever I paint on one object always shows up on all other objects in the scene.

Thanks,

Use one material per texture set.

I watched a tutorial of yours covering this issue I think… a separate uv tile is needed for each texture? When I load all my separate models into a mudbox new file, all the uvs are on one tile, thus the painting over multiple objects which I am trying to prevent. I am modeling in Max, and the knee joint is complicated and I really need each model separate, not one model with sub-materials - I think this process is what you were alluding to. That is unless it is possible to easily turn off each separate sub-object in MB if I bring in as one model.

I tried changing the map channel for one of the models in order to place it on a new tile in MB, but it just imports as a blackobject on the 1st UV Tile. How do I get these separate models to import on differing tiles?

Thanks again,
