how to creat footprint on the snow

someone help me ,my question is I want creat a creature walk and run on the snow field ,question 1 How i creat footprint on the snow filed,and how to make the snow perfect effect by the feet, forgive me my bad english,any suggestion welcome.

here he explanes how to use paricles to make these footprints in the ground

you can do it using volselect & mesher compound ob.

Pete Draper has a free tutorial about creating tyre tracks in mud on his website www.xenomorphic.co.uk, should work for foot steps too.
