How to build a flat grid?

#1

I need to construct a flat plane grid.composed of thin green lines over a black background. I will lay a piece of modeled terrain on top of and in the middle of it in order to get a “map” effect. The grid will extend out from all sides of the terrain. I can then fly a camera around it.

I can’t figure out how to make the grid. Seems simple, but I can’t find any reference to it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Working in 2.49b.

Yes, exactly.

I’m not sure if this is exactly what you’re after, but it may help. It’s a subdivided plane with a displacement modifier and uses the wireframe rendering trick from Oliver to generate the green lines

The terrain is a 30-sec job in Gimp and isn’t very detailed! A tutorial for setting up the material is here: http://vimeo.com/14207415

Yes, thanks. That’s essentially what I’m after although it’s 2.5 file and I’m staying with 2.49 for the moment.

I’m going pull a shot of the terrain that I’ve worked up and see if I can post it here in order to illustrate what I’m trying to do. Will get it done today.
