How much should I charge to design a small business website?

Greetings!

I have been viewing this forum for a few years, but this is my first post. I am an amateur web designer; amateur in the fact that I don’t make my living doing web graphics work, but I am very advanced at what I do.

Some recently asked me to setup a new design for their website – it’s a female painter who’s current website is out of date and she needs a new one, with me to reguarly post updates to it. It will also require the construction of an online store, with credit card access to her credit card company so people may purchase art.

She will pay $310.00 for 2 years of hosting. How much should I charge as a fairly good web designer, who’s dedicated, always available, and ready to do a 15+ page web design?

It is hard to say… check other local companies to find out what the average for what you are doing is. Something like that around my area for a small business (depending on how much dazzle/flash ) ranges from 750 to 1500 bucks for the design and coding of the pages. But living in a smallish town with very few local web designers this may be a little high… Also this may be better for the General Discussion area and not the Art Technique area.
