IKARO_LW: Bonita imagen.

We must know each other from PR, I know that by fact…

Answer the following:

  • Did you take painting classes with Mr. Cruz or Diseño with Prof. Centeno or Advertising with Prof. Olga Sanchez or Sculpture w. Prof. Iturbe or Graficas w. Prof. Alicea?
BONUS POINT: If in the previous question you answered was Mr. Cruz, what was his nickname? And was an average of “notas” you’d get for one painting.
  • Were you ever afraid of walking across an overpass walkway because the canvas you were carrying was so big that you’d glide off the ground like a chiringa — or papalote in Mexico?
  • Or, were you ever left — a pié — because the public bus operator would refuse let you get on with the huge mobile mural you had to carry to class… and back?!
  • Or was the canvas was so big that you’d use it to ward off the rain?
  • Was the principal of the School Mrs. Buxo?
If your previous answer was yes…
  • If Don Quijote was Mrs. Buxo, which professor would have played Sancho Panza? They were unseparable HINT: She always carried her keys and looked like Sancho proportion wise.
  • Did you ever eat empanadillas de pizza across the street from the school?
  • How much were they—empanadillas?
  • What was name of the huge, expensive and btw no longer existant, store across the street from the school? What was behind?
  • Did you ever find yourself avoiding “corillos” from the school on parada 18? BONUS PONT: What was the name of that school?
  • Did you ever find yourself singing out loud… La Central, La Crema?
  • Was your school uniform blue pants and white shirt polo?
  • What is the motto la “La Escuela Central de Artes Visuales” that was in the crest of the school uniform? HINT: It wasn’t in spanish.
    Tricky one…
  • What was the nickname of the most popular, tough woman is the school cafeteria?
HINT: She was a red head.
  • SUPER BONUS POINT What was the name of Mr’s Alicea’s lesbian lover?
  • And last but not least… Cual es la primera estrofa del himno de la Central? AND, Mijo — what year did you graduate?!

If you answered correctly 10 of these questions while laughing your pants off… you my friend, might know who I am. And if you don’t know all of them, I’ll be glad to fill you in on the rest… and make you laugh and reminisce even more. :bounce:

Not only i know you took classes with Centeno, you used to do caricatures… I’m pretty sure.
I studied with Olga accross the way from Centeno. But I was for 1 semester w. “el diablo” Cruz.
Who had a system of grading of 250 notas per painting.
Mrs. Buxos’ Sancho was Mrs. Tapia who bTW was also my Mother’s teacher. Yup she’s been around.
The empanadillas were ¢75 and the soda ¢75, making “going out for lunch” a whoppping $1.50.
Yes, Gonzales Padin! and behind it was, their parking lot.
Our school motto was and I sincerely don’t know if it still is: Ars longa, vita brevis.
The name of the cafeteria womas was… Duracell, cabeza de cobre.
And yes the Spanish teacher’s name was… Ms. Candelaria.
And the hymns goes… Artistas de la Central, marchemos con afan, por la senda de gloria que nos conduce a un ideal.
Has not changed much since my mother was at Central in 1970.
I graduated in 1989, did you graduate in 88?

#597

I am class 88!

Awesome…

See if you recognize me…
