How do you get lattice deformed eyes to follow a headrig?

#1

Hi, I’ve seen lots of posts on cgtalk on how to create lattice deformed toon eyes.
But what I cannot figure out is how to get my eyesetup (lattice deformed spheres) to follow the head rig.

What works is to point constraint the lattice to the headjoint, but the problem is with the rotation. If I rotate the head how do I get the eyes to follow AND still aim at my eyectrl (I’ve set up an aimconstraint, so the iris/pupil always looks at my eyectrl).

Any suggestions?

After alot of messing around, i finally figured out how to do it properly.
My eyelids was a blendshape of a jointsetup with corrective blendshapes I’ve done. So what I did was to put a smooth skin ontop of the blendshape lids, before the lattice deformer.

Then I grouped the eyeballmesh+lidsJoint+lattice+latticeBase together, and added a joint with ik target point constrained to my eye ctrl. I then oriented the eyeballmesh on my ik-jointbase - and pointconstrained the ikjointbase to the lattice.

Now i can translate and rotate the eye and the iris/pupil always looks (aims) at the eye ctrl!
