If you wnat to view just a wireframe without chading at all (but bare in mind this will cull the back faces, but I’m guessing that’s what you are after), then Right click in the viewport and turn ‘Flat’ mode on and the wireframe. I’ve enclosed a sample screenshot to show what i mean.

Hey DW,
thanks for the quick response =], turns out the tutorial 'm working from uses a previous version so as far as i can tell there was either the the option to view wireframe without any shading whatsoever, or else it was just a wireframe mat he made himself. which leads me to another question is it possible to create a material in max and use it in mudbox? Also wanted to thank u for answering a question i had about local subdivision came across ur post on the subject over at the area so thanks for clearing that up aswell! awsome forums and a great community to the rescue once again!

It is possible to render a material on a sphere and use this in a Mudbox LitSphere material (works exactly the same way as a zb matcap BTW). But at teh moment there’s no support for more complex material set ups (like exporting an mr SSS shader etc…) Hope thats useful.

Don’t meant to hijack this thread but I just realised who you are through your website link. I have watched your tuts in the past and the newish ones on cgarena and I must say you have the best tutorials, out of gnomon and everybody. Concice, forthcoming with information and really easy to follow. Thanks man. ![]()
Thanks for the comment. They do seem to have gone down rather well lol. The trials and tribulations of getting this many hours of free stuff out is worthy of a novel, which I’m sure no one would belive lol.

Damn thats going back a bit, one way was to simply use a wireframe as a texture.
Wayne…
If that’s the case… forget it. I better update the mudbox app.
I was checking your tutorial (the alien head sculpting one). Great tutorial! The only downside is that it’s not subtitled.
Anyway… may I ask, what’s the computer spec you used when you did that alien head?
one more Q, if i put together a multi-sub or composite material in max with lets say wireframe set to one and a transparent material set to the other will the transparency show in MB? i should really just try this out for myself but it being Christmas and all 3D time is at a minimum ho ho no! anyway thanks again for ur help, also Wayne i checked out your site awsome stuff, 'll be making a start on those tuts in the very near future and i’d just like to say its people like you that make the process of learning these programs infinitly easier and more accesiable thank you!
Merry Christmas
