how can i tweak the animation from storymode?

#1

hi,

i have a problem. i have added a character into the story mode. then i took a motion and added it into the track. looks fine. then i added a new motion and got it to look okey, but i have to tweak his left hand, since it goes through the geometry.
normally, when i dont do this in story mode, i plot the animation to the control rig, then i add a new animation layer and keyframe the offset of the hand. but now when i am in story mode i dont get it to work? i plot it to the control rig, but when i try to move the effectors it doesnt work…? how am i suppose to do this?

Hei,

before you change the animation from the story input to the character rig you can do all the editing in story by adding a character subtrack on “top” (actually goes below) your master track. The subtrack can eighter be additive or override your whole animation what is on the main track.

Let say you have walk sequence that contains multiple clips on the main track and you want make the character look left at some point. First you add character additive track to your master track and press A (accept keys), then go to time where you want the character to start head turn. Press Zero (Shift-K) key to mark the spot, let say 10 frames later make the head turn (press K to keyftame) and a moment later press zero key again. When clip selected you can find curves at the Fcurve editor. Once the animation is fixed Plot the whole scene to current take.

You can have multiple subtracks and you can restrict what parts will receive animation. So you can have separate tracks for hand corrections and another one for head and so on.

Long story short, hope this helps! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. Anssi

well, if this work, this is exactly what i am looking for…a way to edit the motion in story mode.
i knew about the subtrack and i have a motion clip in my master clip and a motion clip in my subtrack. in subtrack i only want my head to get influence from the second motion clip and i can set weight on it too, but i missed that one about hitting the “A” button. Thats what i was looking for. I will try this tomorrow, thanks alot!
