here is a pic I found from IL-2 website(sorry, forgot the modeler’s
name). I noticed that the original cockpit was made with many sharp edge polygons, but this pic marked 1 and 2 area looks very nice highlight in beveled edge.Is it really a beveled edge or just a paint magic? HOW DID YOU DO THAT? Could someone show me the way? Where can I get some paint tut about painting highlight or shadows to simulate 3d effect like that? Thanks a lot!!!

It looks as though the bevels are painted and geometric… there are various ways to bevel edges in whatever modeling program you are using…as for painting on highlights, it is pretty easy (with adobe photoshop at least). You just use the dodge tool over the edges of the texture map and it will lighten those areas (this is more heavily used in older games with single-map textures as opposed to real rendered specularity in the more recent titles. hope that helps :slight_smile:
