how can i change location of the model after importing in maya

#1

well i have the feeling that this is a silly one … but i cant seem to know how.

my prob is that i want to change the location of the character and its animation after importing to maya.
when i select roger master and move it … the model and the skeleton move separately

and when I group them together I get the same thing.

The only way is to delete history but that will delete the animation on the model too

So how can I do it

It all has to do with double translations/rotations.

If skin is bound, it gets it translations/rotations from the skeleton. If you have the mesh then parented under a group node that the skeleton is also under, moving that node with give you twice the translation/rotation.

Hi, one thing you can try is to select the skeleton root and group it. Then move the new group. May work, may not.

But be carefull with scaling a group with skinned objects in it.
Once I had a lot of trouble with it, and lost hours of work.
