houdini or maya for simulating water and smoke

#1

hi

i already use maya but haven’t touched bifrost or any fx tool in maya i mostly use it for modeling ,rigging and animation but i want to do water simulation like oceans and also smoke simulation. is maya good enough or should i consider houdini

it is good enough… but simulation is nothing you learn in an evening…
it does take years to learn how to get decent results…

i would go with maya… except you are planning to find a job in fx… in this case learn houdini and maya…
