Hose Extanded Primitive

#1

Hallo fellow members. I’m new to this forum and to the 3d world, been going through some tutorials for a while now in 3dsm version 6.
Today i modeled the lamp in my room, i wanted to add some pictures for reference, but it’s seems that i can’t upload it until i have 30 posts, so this is the first step

more to the point… my lamp has a hose primitive in it. But i just can’t get a sharp look for some reason, and the properties that are most related to that are the “segments” and the “cycles”.
But no matter how much i tweak, it’s always blurry on some parts…

that’s it for now… thanks for your help!

first you have to choose your perfekt position from where the details have to seen detailed.
Second you need a good lightning setup to define the contours. Both parts are tricky and i
think the right renderer could help you too.

tnx for the quick reply

could you explain more about the lightning and the contours?

thats tricky as i said and nothing explained in short. you have to try to adjust your lights, what’s i think mostly experience. You could link your max file and members out of here were be able to give some more specialized informations for your problem.

Ok- I think i understand now…

The reason some parts of the hose looked so blurry was the shadows and contours just as you said. So i created a new light and moved it so the whole hose will be lightened from the same angle, so all of them looks quite sharp right now.

i’ll put the pictures later in the critique zone for some “artistic” opinion
